Jim Mehaffey has been a resident of West Deptford for the past 48 years. His wife and he have two daughters, Chelsea, a junior at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, and Rachel, a freshman at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.  Both were educated in the West Deptford Township School System.

Jim has been a member of the Board of Education for the past nine years; several of those years were as School Board President.

Jim’s viewpoint:  “The opportunity to serve the residents of West Deptford as a member of the school board has truly been a rewarding and eye-opening experience.  In these troubled economic times it is important for an elected official to be fiscally responsible while exploring different alternatives to saving taxpayer dollars.  As a school board member my primary focus has always been - and will continue to be - providing a quality education to our children at a reasonable cost, while being mindful of the tax impact to the community.”

Jim plans to continue to educate himself on the topics that will help prepare him and his fellow board members for the difficult decisions that will have to be faced in the future.
