Monday-Tuesday-  We will be doing a JIGSAW activity to better understand the way industrialization changed attitudes and values. (151-156)

Wednesday-  Today we will focus on the positive and negative impact of industrialization and urbanization.  If you are absent, please read pages 140-146 to keep up.

Thursday-You will work in pairs to create a time capsule of the Industrial Revolution era.  You will then make a list for today.

 

Week of December 6, 2010

Monday- Today you will finish the final copy of your diary entry.  It is due no later than tomorrow.

Tuesday- Today we will do an activity to look at the issue of child labor from various perspectives  called "The Way I See It".  Afterwards, you will complete an Alphabet Soup on child labor.

Wednesday-  Today we will read several plays about child labor during the Industrial Revolution.  You will complete a chart of information you learned about conditions in the factory.

Thursday- Today you will learn about the new ideas that emerged because of the evils of the Industrial Revolution.   If absent, read pages104-107 and do 1-5 in the section review.

Week of November 29, 2010

Monday-  Today you will Read Pair Share about the Dawn of the Industrial Age.  Using pages 92-94, you will complete a chart about the factors that made it happen. 

Tuesday-  Today you will learn why Great Britain was the first nation to industrialize.  We will complete a spoke diagram.   We will also discuss your project on creating a museum about the Industrial Revolution.

Wednesday-  We will focus on evaluating the positive and negative effects of the industrial revolution by completing a  TChart.

Thursday-  Today we will discuss child labor during the industrial revolution.  We will analyze photographs and then discuss why factory owners often preferred children.

Friday-  Today you will write a diary entry from the perspective of a child laborer.

Week of November 22, 2010

Monday- Wednesday-  You will be working on an assignment which will help assess what you have learned about political revolutions.  You will create a MANUAL on "How to Carry Out a Successful Revolution".  We will do some  brainstorming to help you create your manual and we will work on it in class.  Your final assignment will be due on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving Break.

Thursday-Friday-  "GOBBLE GOBBLE and Shop Til you Drop!"

Week of November 15, 2010    UNIT TEST ON FRENCH REVOLUTION AND NAPOLEON ON Thursday, Nov 18th.!

Monday- Today you will begin working on your study guides and note cards for unit test.

Tuesday-  We will play Jeopardy for Thursday's test.

Wednesday-  We will play Quiz Quiz Trade to prepare for tomorrow's test on the French Revolution and Napoleon.

Homework:  Study for French Revolution/ Napoleon Test.

Thursday-    UNIT TEST ON FRENCH REVOLUTION AND NAPOLEON  After test, you will read pages 120-127 and complete the section review on page 127 (1-6).

Friday-  You will learn about revolutions in Latin America...why they happened!  You will also find out about our assignment to create a "HOW TO...REVOLUTION MANUAL".

Week of November 9, 2010     

Monday-  We will spend some time looking back today to the week before your break.  You will review some of the key events of the French Revolution.  You will read pages 74-78 in your textbook and do an Alphabet Soup for "REVOLUTION".

Homework:  Finish reading assignment and Alphabet Soup.

Tuesday- Today we will discuss the reasons for the rise of Napoleon with an Interactive Lecture. (Follows 78-82 in text book if you are absent)

Friday- We will finish up yesterday's class work with a discussion.  We will also focus on the decline of Napoleon.  You will  complete a Nine Word Challenge on the fall of Napoleon.

Tuesday-  Today we will discuss why we need a government.  You will  read an article and do a Jot Pair Share Activity.

Wednesday-We will discuss which philosopher they agree with the most.  Then, we will do an activity called "Carousel Envelopes" to discuss the ideas of the Enlightenment a bit further.

Thursday- You will match the philosopher with the term he is associated with.  Then, you will begin your RAFT writing prompt.

Friday-  Finish RAFT writing prompt on Enlightenment.
